EIGRP - Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol

Master EIGRP for a successful Cisco certification journey

Pacing-Packets

When we talk about other routing protocols they consume the total bandwidth of the link on low Bandwidth link to converge the prefixes/routes. But EIGRP limits itself by using only 50% of the total bandwidth reported by an interface when determining the packet pacing intervals.

If admin manipulates the bandwidth to change some routing decision so it can harm EIGRP process for low bandwidth link.
ByDefault EIGRP is configured to use 50% of the link bandwidth to process EIGRP, but we can also manipulate this by using some commands.

        *R10(config)#int f0/0
        *R10(config-if)#ip bandwidth-percent eigrp 2 ?
(1-999999) Maximum bandwidth percentage that EIGRP may use
